Overview
Motor Scout collects only the information reasonably needed to operate vehicle searches, accounts, reports, customer support, and payments. This policy explains the information we receive and how it is used.
Information we collect
- Search briefs, saved vehicles, preferences, and feedback you submit.
- Account and contact information, such as your name and email address.
- Vehicle listing URLs, VINs, notes, and files you provide for a report or investigation.
- Basic technical and security information, such as IP address, browser type, request timestamps, and rate-limit events.
- Purchase and transaction references. Payment card details are processed by the payment provider and are not stored by Motor Scout.
First-party beta analytics
Motor Scout records privacy-conscious usage events such as page visits, feature navigation, search starts and outcomes, candidate-count ranges, Dream Garage activity, and returning visits. These events use pseudonymous browser and session identifiers and do not place the wording of a search brief in the analytics event table. Motor Scout does not use third-party advertising trackers for this beta. Browser Do Not Track and the local analytics opt-out setting are respected.
\nHow information is used
We use information to provide and improve searches and reports, maintain accounts and saved items, fulfill customer requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and communicate about the service.
Service providers
Motor Scout may send the minimum necessary information to hosting, vehicle-data, artificial-intelligence, email, analytics, and payment providers that help deliver the service. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Retention and deletion
Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the service, security, accounting, dispute handling, or legal obligations. Account holders may use available account controls or email us to request access, correction, export, or deletion. Some records may be retained where legally required.
Your choices
You may avoid creating an account for features offered without one. Browser-local saved vehicles can be removed through your browser storage controls. You may request assistance at [email protected].
Security and children
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Motor Scout is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the beta develops. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
